PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man believes that the dissolution of Amanah will ensure calm in the opposition.
He also told Amanah communication director Khalid Samad to keep his mouth shut.
Tuan Ibrahim said he foresaw Amanah facing problems with regard to seats in the next general election.
"This will lead to three-cornered fights like in the by-elections (for Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar), unless DAP or PKR are willing to give up some of their seats (for Amanah)," he told Malaysiakini.
The PAS leader was responding to Khalid, who suggested that perhaps it is time for Tuan Ibrahim to quit the Islamist party and join one of the parties in Pakatan Harapan.
Tuan Ibrahim said the country does not need too many parties in the opposition which are borne out of disappointment and the desire to be leaders.
"The attitude of being unable to work under others is one of the reasons for the mushrooming of many political parties," he said.
Tuan Ibrahim said he had no issues working with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and the current leadership.
"We are happy... Respecting the differences and trust towards the leadership are the strengths of PAS now," he added.
Earlier today, Khalid pointed out that only one PAS leader, vice-president Iskandar Samad, had expressed support for Tuan Ibrahim’s call for a ceasefire between opposition parties.
Amanah, which is a PAS splinter party, was created after the collapse of Pakatan Rakyat following a clash between DAP and PAS.
DAP, PKR and Amanah are now members of a new opposition bloc called Pakatan Harapan.
In the June 18 Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar by-elections, Harapan's decision to field Amanah candidates turned the contests for the parliament seats into three-cornered fights.
BN emerged victorious in the polls.
