242 Malaysians stranded in Turkey identified and assisted

The Foreign Ministry confirmed today that a total of 242 Malaysians who were stranded in major airports in Turkey have been identified and assisted.

Out of the 242 Malaysians, 221 have departed to their respective destinations while the remaining 21 will depart from Turkey according to their scheduled flights.

A special task force comprising officials from the Malaysian embassy in Ankara, the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) and Tourism Malaysia, with the help of the honorary consul of Malaysia in Turkey, managed to render consular assistance to all the stranded Malaysians.

The ministry in a statement advised Malaysians to stay vigilant and those who require consular assistance may contact the Malaysian embassy in Ankara or Wisma Putra’s operations room.
