Consultant with fake car registration plate ‘IJAN’ fined

A consultant was fined RM5,500, in default a month’s jail, by the Magistrate’s Court in Kuala Lumpur today for displaying false registration numbers on her black Mini Cooper car.

Magistrate Zuhair Rosli handed down the sentence on Aslizan Zabidin, 43, who pleaded guilty to the charge.

Aslizan, a consultant, was charged with displaying the registration numbers ‘IJAN’, which was not found in the Road Transport Department (RTD) system, on her car at Jalan Imbi in Kuala Lumpur at 11am last June 26.

The charge, under Section 108(3)(f) of the Road Transport Act 1987, carries a maximum fine of RM20,000, or imprisonment for up to five years, or both, upon conviction.

During mitigation, Aslizan, who was unrepresented, said she was a single mother with three children.

Prosecuting officer Traffic Inspector Hashimah Hashim, prosecuted.
