Former Appeals Court judge Mokhtar Sidin passes away
Mokhtar, 77, is well known for presiding the Pahang assemblyperson Mazlan Idris murder case in Temerloh High Court, involving Mona Fandey or her real name Maznah Ismail, her husband, Mohd Affandi Abdul Rahman and assistant Juraimi Hussin.
He also presided in the defamation case brought by tycoon Vincent Tan against journalist the late MGG Pillai at the High Court.

Mokhtar was appointed a judicial commissioner on Dec 1, 1988, and was confirmed a High Court judge on March 11, 1991.
He was elevated to the Court of Appeal on March 1, 1996.
At the Court of Appeal, he was on the bench that decided against granting bail on political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda in the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder case, along with the S Shamala vs Dr M Jeyaganesh religious tussle and the former Mount Everest climber M Moorthy, body snatching case.
Mokhtar retired on March 20, 2007. His remains were buried in Keramat.
