PAS is ready to face Pakatan Harapan if a snap election is called in Penang, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said.

"Yes, of course (we will face Pakatan Harapan). We have no other cooperation, besides with PKR," Takiyuddin told reporters in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Asked if PAS would contest in seats in which PKR fields candidates, he said: "It's not decided."

DAP earlier held a meeting on a possible snap election for the northern state, which DAP has been leading for a second term.

A snap election in Penang is seen as a way to solidify Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's position, following pressure on him to resign after he was charged with corruption last month.

Lim said the decision to call a snap election must, however, be made in consensus with Pakatan Harapan partners PKR and Parti Amanah Negara.

DAP holds 19 seats in the Penang state legislative assembly, PKR 10 and PAS one. BN has 10 seats.
