The Perkasa Youth Wing has lodged a police report against Umno Youth vice-chief Khairul Azwan Harun over the latter’s police report alleging a conspiracy to topple prime minister Najib Abdul Razak and the government.

Its chief Irwan Fahmi Ideris said the report was lodged at the Ayer Hitam station in Batu Pahat, Johor, tonight.

Based on Khairul Azwan’s report, Irwan said police should investigate the source of his information on the alleged conspiracy plot that implicated former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail, former Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz and retiring Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Abu Kassim Mohamed.

“We also urge him (Khairul Azwan) to hand over all evidence to the police for further investigation.

“If the matter (allegations) are found to be false, we urge the police to take the necessary actions,” said Irwan in his police report sighted by Malaysiakini.

In his report, Khairul Azwan said the three were suspected of providing confidential information to foreign agencies without authorisation, including the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

He also alleged that some of the documents submitted were falsified and the information twisted to achieve their agenda.

In response, both Zeti and Abu Kassim had refused comments and said they would first seek legal counsel on the matter.

Abdul Gani, meanwhile, dismissed the allegations as a mere publicity stunt.

The police report follows the US Department of Justice’s civil suit to seize and recover billions in assets which had been allegedly siphoned from state-investor 1MDB.
