The spat between DAP publicity chief Tony Pua and PKR central committee member Latheefa Koya is merely a “discussion”, said Selangor Menteri Besar and PKR deputy president Azmin Ali.

He described the exchange between the two leaders on Facebook as such, when asked by reporters to comment on the matter.

Reporter: YB, can you comment on the spat between Tony Pua and Latheefa?

Azmin: It’s a discussion because you have not seen this in BN. In Pakatan Harapan, we agree to disagree.

Reporter: But it was done on Facebook, and the supporters are saying all kinds of things (about it).

Azmin: We are open.

Reporter: But doesn’t this muddy the waters?

Azmin: Perhaps TV3 and Utusan Malaysia would muddy the waters, but not us.

Azmin was speaking to reporters in Shah Alam today, after launching the 11-day Selangor Book Fair 2016 at the Shah Alam Convention Centre.

Pua had published the Facebook post yesterday lamenting about “friends” who fail to live up to expectations after standing up for them.

“Sometimes, you wonder what type of friends you have. When they are in a crisis, you backed them to the hilt, come what may.

“Then at a time when we would appreciate their support, they leak everything to the media first leaving you completely naked.

“Or announce to the whole world openly before they bother talking to us,” he said.

Pua appeared to be alluding to the 2014 Selangor menteri besar crisis that resulted in Azmin’s rise to his current position, and PKR deferring its judgement on whether to back DAP’s call to hold a snap election in Penang.

However, he had refused to comment when contacted on this matter.

Latheefa responded yesterday with a Facebook post of her own, saying that DAP too had made unilateral announcements without consulting its coalition partners.

"Or wait... Who also unilaterally announced the death of Pakatan Rakyat?

"Or wait... Who also announced the formation of Pakatan Harapan - all to the press before the final decision?"

"Don't strip first and then complain about being left naked," she said.
