‘We are puzzled that Apandi is puzzled’

YOURSAY | ‘After being shown to be so spectacularly wrong by DOJ, Apandi has the gall to feign ignorance…’

On 1st anniversary, Apandi expresses puzzlement over criticism

Odin Tajué: Attorney-general (AG) Mohamed Apandi Ali, whether you are doing things in accordance to the law depends entirely on which law you are referring to.

It seems there are two laws in Malaysia. One law is a compilation of the principles, regulations and punishments established by Parliament and applicable to Malaysians and most any other nationals extant in the country. The other law is Malaysian Official 1 (MO1).

If by ‘law’ you mean the latter, then, yes, you have been doing things in accordance to the law. If by ‘law’ you mean the former, then, no, you have not been doing things - or at least not certain things of prime import - in accordance to the law.

You are delusional. Like the law that you are inextricably shackled to, you are self-deceiving. And you are lost in your world of self-deception.

This is all too apparent to those even in possession of average intellect and are not blinded by material and intangible rewards to intentionally skew their perception and queer their logic.

It is more than crystal clear from your being puzzled at the complaints about you. But, doubtless, your utterances are all lapped up by your audience, a mass of people whose minds are stimulated only by things base and common.

All this is why you have failed those fellow Malaysians of yours who are expecting true justice miserably. By the by, you are obviously no match for even any of those junior attorneys in a US district court and never mind the US attorney-general.

Anyway, have fun in your world of self-deception while it lasted for you.

Fairman: Dear AG, I have a query. On Jan 26 this year, while clearing PM Najib Razak of not committing any criminal offence in relation to the RM2.6 billion, you said in your press release:

“Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in their investigation personally met and recorded statements from witnesses including the donor which confirm that the donation was given to YAB PM personally.”

Now, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) lawsuit says that US$681 million (or RM2.6 billion) was transferred from a Tanore account to an account belonging to MO1. See paragraphs 259 to 263 of the lawsuit.

My questions: How did you come to the conclusion that the money was a donation from a Saudi royal family when the MACC was pleading for your cooperation to request for a mutual legal assistance (MLA) to foreign countries for the purpose of completing its investigation?

Where did you obtain this piece of evidence when the MACC could not travel overseas to interview witnesses and collect documentary evidence?

Telestai!: Surely by now Apandi should be red faced given the amount of hard evidence that littered the 136 pages of the DOJ's civil suit.

Yet he plays dumb and continues to declare there is no wrongdoing. It is really hard to believe he was once a top judge.

Vijay47: Apandi, like everybody else, I am puzzled that you are puzzled over why everyone views you with utmost contempt.

Your present classic plea of aggrieved and bewildered innocence is that the DOJ action is only a civil matter and that no criminal charges had been preferred.

Pray may I ask, what nature of civil matter is it, did US AG Loretta Lynch decide that it was about time she raised revenue for the US government so that she could enhance her KPI (key performance indicator)?

Isn't her forfeiture claim a pre-emptive action to forestall the evacuation of illegal funds and a precursor to the relevant persons being charged for criminal activity?

Shouldn’t you as defender of the realm be equally concerned that the country's wealth is being squirreled off by shady characters whoever they are related to?

Having your doors open to your staff is nothing to write home about - it is akin to the chief eunuch in the Imperial Palace meeting the other eunuchs for tea every day even as the emperor continues his ravishing and pillaging.

Anonymous #19098644: A man with no shame, a man with no integrity, a man who is prepared to sell his soul for money, position and power, is worried about public criticism? What a joke.

Existential Turd: He would not have received so much brickbats had he kept his mouth shut. After being shown to be so spectacularly wrong by the DOJ, he has the gall to feign ignorance, thus adding one more adjective to his name.

Anonymous_1393313516: AG, are you saying the documents that you have and the document that DOJ have are totally different? Is that why you said the PM didn't do anything wrong?

And is that why some people are going after former Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz, former attorney-general (AG) Abdul Gani Patail and outgoing Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Abu Kassim Mohamed?

Remember, all of you have to answer to the ‘Almighty’ whom you pray.

Negarawan: Most wrongdoers will say that they did not break any law.

The Nazi criminals responsible for the Holocaust pleaded not guilty in the Nuremberg trials despite overwhelming evidence and witnesses. Islamic terrorists say that they are following their religious laws when they kill innocent people and commit all forms of atrocities.

Likewise, the Malaysian AG says that he is following the law in his decision to drop the 1MDB case. In stark contrast, the US AG toiled for a year and filed a 136-page lawsuit on the 1MDB perpetrators, with more lawsuits to come.

The point here is that it is not up an individual to judge himself as law-abiding. Let the people of Malaysia and history be a judge. More importantly, nobody escapes the law of God.
