The opposition's nationwide tour to explain the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) issues will not affect the government in any way, according to Umno supreme council member Johari Abdul Ghani.

He said this was because the issues were not new, but instead had been played and manipulated by the opposition over the past three years.

"We cannot stop certain quarters from holding a nationwide tour, it has been done before, most of the issues are old issues and there is nothing new to be explained to the people.

"It would be better if they try to find the solutions. That is more important than talking about 1MDB for 365 days like there are no other issues," he told reporters, after attending the Titiwangsa Youth Council's Aidilfitri do and Independence Month celebration in Kuala Lumpur today.

Johari, who is also second finance minister, said it would be better if all issues related to 1MDB be left to the authorities to investigate.

"The government has never hidden anything concerning 1MDB. If we really want to hide something, we wouldn't have appointed the Public Accounts Committee and National Audit Department to investigate the issues," he added.
