Concerned that the country is at risk of becoming a failed state, Federal Territories Amanah Youth is organising a campaign this month to pressure Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to step down.

The 'Kempen merdekakan Malaysia daripada Najib' ('liberate Malaysia from Najib' campaign) is meant to continue and strengthen the rakyat's momentum against Najib, who has lost the confidence of the people over the endless scandals of 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion donation, FT Amanah Youth said in a statement yesterday.

Various activities will be held throughout August, including public speaking events in Kampung Baru, and a forum.

Youth leaders from both DAP and PKR, activist Adam Adli and Bersih secretariat member Mandeep Singh are among those expected to appear at the public speaking sessions.

Videos of the activities will also be released.

“The highlight of the campaign will be a public speaking session at Dataran Merdeka on the night of Aug 31," FT Amanah Youth vice-chief Nik Abdul Razak said.

The Amanah Youth wing also called on Malaysians to promote the hashtag '#merdekakanMalaysiadrpdNajib' to show they rejected Najib, and to pressure him to step down.
