Veteran singer Zainal Abidin may be looking at a collaboration with Andrea Bocelli’s producer, after performing with the Italian opera legend in a concert in Rome last month.
“Andrea Bocelli's producer said they might want to collaborate with me. It might be a duet or a collaboration in album,” he said during a press conference at Bukit Kiara Equestrian & Country Resort yesterday afternoon for the ‘Music For Mercy’ concert.
He said they are still in an early stage of discussion.
“I met artists from different countries such as Andrea Bocelli and David Foster. I was invited for the recording of an international album,” he said.
Also attending the press conference was his wife Angelina Aswani.
“I was with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. They are great, it is a kind of high standard of music. But if compared it with the Italian orchestra I attended, orchestra in Italy is 10 times better than what we have in Malaysia,” he said.
He admitted that he is tired with the current music industry in Malaysia as it paid less.
“We have a huge difference between the local music industry and those overseas. We don’t have a market for pay-per-entry concerts here. Out there, people pay, doesn’t matter what is the price,” he said.
“I urge people not to give away concert tickets for free as it will cause the artists to lose value,” he added.
The well-known singer was invited to perform at an international concert themed ‘Music For Mercy’ on July 26 in Rome. The performance marks the highest honour in his career.
