DAP chairperson Karpal Singh will not be able to attend the current sitting of Parliament as he is still recovering from injuries sustained in a car accident late January.

"I don't think he can make it, he is still immobile and the current sitting only has about three weeks left," DAP Penang chief and Tanjong MP Chow Kon Yeow told malaysiakini yesterday.

The current sitting, which began on March 21, will sit until April 28.

Karpal, the Bukit Gelugor MP, was expected earlier to be fit enough to attend the session after his six-month suspension from Parliament was lifted.

Misled the House

Last September, the senior politician was suspended for six months for having misled the House over the oath-taking ceremony for parliamentarians.

Following the Jan 28 Penang accident involving the taxi he was travelling in, Karpal was initially treated at the Gleneagles Medical Centre but his family moved him to the Loh Guan Lye Specialist Centre as too many people were visiting him.

He had undergone intensive treatment for neck and back injuries.
