Two hotel blocks destroyed in fire near KLIA

Two blocks of a hotel situated near the KL International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang were destroyed in a fire this afternoon.

In the fire, two blocks housing the kitchen, restaurant, lobby, administration office and store were destroyed but there were no reports of human casualties.

Bernama was informed that the fire had started in the kitchen and quickly spread to the lounge of the hotel due to strong winds.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department chief Zamri Che Din said a distress call was received at 3.48pm and a team of firefighters and four Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), three water tankers, a Turn Table Ladder (TTL) and an ultra-light fire tender were deployed to the scene.

"The fire was brought under control and prevented from spreading to other blocks by 6.12pm. There were 80 fire fighters, police and from other agencies involved in the operation but no one was injured," he said when contacted today.
