Teen remanded on suspicion of beheading grandmother in Johor
A 19-year-old teenager has been remanded for seven days on suspicion of beheading his grandmother at Felda Pengeli Timur, near Kulai, yesterday.
Kota Tinggi Magistrate’s Court registrar Hairul Azhar Mohamad issued the remand order today, effective till Aug 16.
The suspect fled to a nearby oil palm plantation after the incident but was nabbed at 8.20pm following an operation to track him down.
District police chief Supt Rahmat Othman said the suspect was believed to have used a six to seven-inch knife in the act before placing the victim’s severed head at the door of their house.
The torso was found below the sink in the kitchen. Both legs had been slashed but remained undetached.
Both hands had also been severed with the left one lying next to the body.
It was understood, according to Rahmat, that the suspect, believed to be mentally unstable, had not been taking his medication for many months.
