PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said his party will "wait and see" before deciding on its next course of action with regards to the upcoming formation of Umno splinter Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).

"Bersatu has yet to be registered so let us wait and see," he told a press conference at the PAS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.

However, Abdul Hadi said what has been decided is the "third force" alliance between PAS and Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia which will now be formally known as "Gagasan Sejahtera".

He said the name was agreed by both parties in a meeting last week.

"This political understanding presents a new alliance to the country's political landscape that offers a stronger choice to the people, through a harmonious political culture for the people," he said.

As such, he said voters are no longer confined to a choice between one that is "corrupt" and another that is feeds off "blind anger".

"The people are no longer tied to the two existing political options where one has been proven to espouse a culture of corruption, cronyism, nepotism and mismanagement - which is the Umno-BN bloc, and another which emphasised on a political culture of emotion, excessive politicking, animosity and blind anger among the people," he said.

Also present at the press conference was Ikatan president Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir and other PAS senior leaders.

Abdul Hadi emphasised the new coalition will adopt matured and harmonious politics and strive to resolve the peoples' problems.
