New front in 1MDB scandal

A new suit has been filed in the US against individuals accused of siphoning 1MDB's funds in a bid to recover the stolen money and seek damages from them,

The suit was filed by Matthias Chang, who is former political secretary to ex-prime minister Mahathir Mohamad, and Salor state assemblyperson Husam Musa.

Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua said Bank Negara Malaysia governor Muhammad Ibrahim's credibility is at stake after the latter insisted the 1MDB case is closed as action had already been taken.

Umno starts sniping at Bersatu

Umno, which is holding its divisional meetings, trained its guns against splinter Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), with Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein stating that the party will ensure its members are not swayed by the new rival.

Umno supreme council member Ismail Sabri Yaakob urged Umno members to cut ties with their former comrades who have turned to Bersatu and treat them as the opposition.

Meanwhile, pro-tem Bersatu chief Muhyiddin Yassin sarcastically said Umno should not fear his "mosquito party" as Umno downplayed its significance.

DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang said Bersatu is a potential game changer if it can attract Umno votes and can boost the existing opposition which may find it difficult to maintain its 13th general election support level.

As for PAS, the party said it will adopt a "wait and see" approach on how to deal with Bersatu.

Putrajaya curbs Pokemon craze

The government sought to curb the craze over Pokemon Go, with the Defence Ministry being the latest body to forbid the game on its premises.

Deputy Transport Minister Ab Aziz Kaprawi also advised public transport drivers to stay away from the mobile application while on duty.

Royal Malaysian Navy chief Admiral Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin said personnel supplied with a smartphone for official use are also prohibited from downloading any gaming applications, especially Pokemon Go.

Meanwhile, Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak advised the public not to allow such applications to control their lives.
