Malaysia's Pandelela Rinong and Nur Dhabitah Sabri successfully qualified for the diving finals of the women's 10m platform category at the Rio Olympics.

Pandelela Rinong came in sixth while Nur Dhabitah came in 11th out of the 18 participants in the semi-finals tonight with a score of 336.95 and 307.65 respectively in five dives.

Twelve divers with the best scores advanced to the final.

Pandelela, 23 and Nur Dhabitah, 17, will compete in the finals at 3am tomorrow.

Pandelela won the bronze medal in the same category at the last Olympics.

She, along with Cheong Jun Hoong, have already delivered a silver medal in the synchronised 10m platform category.

All eyes will be on Pandelela and Nur Dhabitah on whether they can deliver an additional Olympic medal for the country.

Malaysia has already achieved its best Olympics performance after its badminton mixed doubles pair Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying delivered the second silver medal at the Rio Olympics yesterday.

Malaysia had never won more than one silver medal at the Olympics.

Azizulhasni Awang yesterday also made history with Malaysia's first ever cycling medal at the Olympics, taking bronze in the men's keirin.
