Malacca CM, better to win by deeds than by redelineation

YOURSAY | 'Gain votes by impressing rakyat, rather than using crooked ways.'

'New seats to help BN' just a suggestion, says Malacca CM

ANA: Even if it is a suggestion, it is a very improper one, as it suggests a willingness to influence the Election Commission (EC).

Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron should make it easy on himself and simply say that his earlier comments were due to poor judgement, and that there can never be any political influence over the EC.

Admitting mistakes is part of good and responsible leadership.

Anonymous 1595491436431853: The suggestion by the Malacca CM is made with the aim of winning the seats in election, as he admitted. This itself is clearly a big problem and is unacceptable.

What we are looking for are politicians who work to bring development and help the rakyat, not this sort of politician who only thinks of crooked ways to remain in power.

Anonymous_1424794168: Obviously, it's a proposal because it's not done yet. But the crux of the issue is that how can he "propose" to use delineation as a method to win back more seats?

Anonymous 1890491455255851: Try thinking before you open your mouth next time. There is a terrible virus being carried by those in Umno. They say stupid things and then try to 'save' themselves with some lame or stupid defence.

Why doesn't he try winning by actually doing his job properly, rather than by looking for an easy way (cheating) to get those votes.

RCZ: Yes. A mere suggestion. The chief minister no less has made an unlawful and criminal suggestion. But it's okay. He is Umno, and Umno can do no wrong.

Suggestion or not, this man is seeking to break the law and make a mockery out of the EC. Wait a minute. The EC is already a mockery.

P Dev Anand Pillai: This so-called suggestion is actually what will be done eventually. This is usually how it works.

A day will come when the people will not be able to tolerate all this nonsense anymore, and that day will see the masses revolt.

Anonymous 2411771460084805: Actually, the YB may be onto something when he said "...ensures all voters would have the opportunity to choose their preferred representatives."

Since 50-plus percent did not vote for BN in the last GE, a proportional representation system may be best to ensure voter preferences are accurately reflected.

I hope the YB brings a motion to this effect in Parliament soon.

Hang Babeuf: "Just internal party discussions," he says. Of course, any attempt to suborn the EC would be a felony. But Umno would never do that. It just doesn't operate that way, does it?

He pleads the so-called 'streaker's defence' - “It seemed like a good idea at the time.”

Anonymous #87227388: PM Najib Razak, this is what you get when you value blind loyalty over intelligence.

Anon1: I wish that someone would find a job for Idris Haron as a back-up clown in some circus. But, it's only a suggestion.

Three senior gov't officers remanded over corruption

Speak For All: This is a big time show from our new Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief.

Please get serious and real, Dzulkifli Ahmad, because all those involved in the 1MDB scandal are still walking freely as though nothing happened.

At the end of the day, all will be forgotten, and it's a matter of time before the guys arrested are freed.

Malaysia for Malaysians: The three can easily win this case by citing “donations”.

After all, donations are legal in Malaysia and the Attorney-General's Chambers has attested to that.

P Dev Anand Pillai: What is the use of catching these chaps when some of the bigger players are let off?

MACC will never be taken seriously until and unless it is truly independent, and admits to all the atrocities that it had committed in the name of fighting graft, in particular the sudden deaths of Teoh Beng Hock and Ahmad Sarbani, who were in their custody.

A new broom will usually sweep well, but will that same broom also sweep the dirt under the boss' table?

David: Yes, this happens all the time, whenever a new chief is appointed. Mr MACC, can you go get the Malaysian Official 1 (MO1) now, to prove you mean what you say.

Santana: What's the big deal about this RM13 million as compared to the billions allegedly stolen by MO1 that has brought down our economy and ringgit.

It has affected every Malaysian, who has to pay goods and services tax (GST) just to cover the big hole left by MO1 and the 1MDB scandal, and which has made Malaysia world famous for corruption.

DC: Good job. Please continue exposing the corrupt public officers. Go all out and put fear in their hearts. Strip these datuk of their titles.

Don't forget the big fish. The public will be with you.
