MP’s mind-boggling feat to equate Agong with MO1

YOURSAY | ‘In trying to be smart, Nawawi's defied logic and disrespected the Agong.’

Umno lawmaker adds royal twist to 'MO1' saga

Vijay47: What poetic justice. Two recent repugnant or amusing statements, depending on how you wish to view them, have merged and come home to roost.

The more recent one has mocked of all persons, the Agong, and this by an Umno leader, a member of parliament yet, from a mob who, when the moment suits them, will crow as to how they are the defenders of race, religion and ruler.

Umno MP for Langkawi Nawawi Ahmad should have known that the Agong is beyond any attempt at humour, however mild. Had this occurred in Thailand, or better still, North Korea, Comrade Nawawi would soon be dispossessed of his head.

The second point is, what is our other comrade, inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar going to do about this act of lese majesty?

I presume he would hasten to play his famous defence counsel role and explain that no offence was committed since Nawawi had commented only on an assumption he had.

Anonymous_4031c: In trying to be smart and to apple polish his boss, he has become insolent and disrespectful to our beloved Agong.

Only an idiot doesn't know who MO1 is, as one minister has stated.

Carpe Diem: The Department of Justice (DOJ) is an illuminati infiltrated organisation that is hell-bent on destabilising model democratic countries and leaders who have been chosen by God.

How dare they? MO1 obviously refers to their target, codenamed Magnus Odious One, who is the supreme leader.

I think what I just wrote makes more sense than the drivel spouted by Umno's Nawawi.

1Citizen: Nawawi ought to know that MO1 in his mother tongue is Pegawai Malaysia No 1. I have never heard the Agong addressed as "Pegawai".

Bluemountains: The DOJ said MO1 received US$731 million in his personal bank account. Did the Agong receive US$731 million in his account, Nawawi? Equating the Agong with MO1 is treason.

Maplesyrup: Is he a lawmaker? Can he handle simple logic? Is the Agong related to Reza Aziz?

Worried Sick: His majesty has been insulted by a very stupid politician. This is very serious, especially coming from a member of parliament.

If the powers-that-be are not going to take action against the MP from Langkawi, then they can be said to be acting in complicity with what he has said.

Umno politicians must be advised that they can make stupid statements for the benefit of the rural Malays to stay in power, but please do not tread on dangerous ground and involve royalty in the shenanigans of allegedly rogue politicians.

Remember, the people love their king very much and they will not be patient much longer if these insults are not stopped.

Cogito Ergo Sum: It is obvious that Umno and its upper echelon can't be bothered with the drivel that's coming from its ordinary members. As long as it does not condemn its leadership.

But one feature that is constantly coming through is the flagrant lack of logical thinking in these pronouncements. In fact, there seems to be a competition as to who can come up with the most idiotic one.

But Nawawi, you just pipped the tape - for today. Tomorrow is another day so you better relish today's win. I fear it will be gone tomorrow.

Anonymous 2325191438313157: Can you imagine what would happen if a member of the opposition had said such a thing? He would have been hung.

Allforit: They charged the late DAP leader Karpal Singh. So no double standards.

P Dev Anand Pillai: This is the standard of intellectual ability of Umno members of Parliament today. Sad but true. They just don't seem to understand the basics any more.

As the head of state, the king's duty is only ceremonial and he has no business in the affairs of the government of the day, which is ceremoniously appointed by him, upon having been advised by the prime minister, who in turn, must command the support of the majority in the Dewan Rakyat to form a government.

It clearly goes to show how desperate some quarters can get just to divert attention.

Victor Johan: The term or words MO1, or Malaysian Official 1, is not mentioned anywhere in the Constitution of the Federation of Malaysia, and is a term coined only in the civil acquisition suit filed US DOJ to represent a specific individual.

Nawawi has committed a grave injustice to the Agong and to the people of Malaysia in creating doubt and confusion, in making the reference to the king as the MO1.

Anonymous_1424794168: The PM must realise that his party is crowded with people who don't seem to be very smart. Stop winning elections through gerrymandering but reform the party.

Otherwise, it's only a matter of time before the party self-destructs.

Mosquitobrain: If PM Najib Razak cannot school this sub-standard Umno lawmaker, then the king must give Najib and this idiot a piece of mind for dragging the monarch into 1MDB.
