'Get ready for GE14, consider this last delegates' conference'

Umno delegates have been advised to consider this year's delegates' conference to be the last as the 14th general election (GE14) might be held sooner than expected.

Umno supreme council member Razali Ibrahim, who is also deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department, said that all party members should remain alert and work hard to ensure BN continues to win the election and rule the country.

"It is possible that this could be the last division meeting throughout the country before the upcoming elections... this means we may not be able to hold another meeting like this as by the next meeting we could be already have faced the election (GE14), which is very important for us.

"(This is) to ensure that our religion is given the highest priority and the Malays are not left behind," he said when speaking at the Marang Umno division Youth and Puteri delegates' meeting, in Marang.

Meanwhile, at a press conference later, Razali said he gave the impression that the general election was getting closer to give the delegates a reminder to be ready, as there was no guarantee when the Parliament and state legislative assembly would be dissolved.

“There is a basic framework to our preparations... we have phases to follow.

“Not everything can be done at the last minute... there are some things we have to prepare earlier as well... that's why we have asked them to be ready at all times.

"I'm worried we may not have time to prepare if the election takes place before the next meeting... then this (meeting) will the last one, and we will work as though the election is going to be held early," he said.
