DBKL adviser: Alleged housing graft a betrayal but mayor not involved

There is no reason for Kuala Lumpur mayor Mohd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz to resign over the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) ongoing investigations of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), said DBKL advisory board member Rizalman Mokhtar.

Rizalman said he disagreed with calls for the mayor's resignation as he was not involved and may not have been aware of the alleged housing graft.

"This (corruption allegations) has nothing to do with the mayor. We must remember, the head of any agency does not necessarily know everything.

"(This is) because we have the delegation of power process and it happened (in this case)," Rizalman told reporters when met after flagging off the Information Department Jalur Gemilang Merdeka convoy at the Bandar Tun Razak fire station in Kuala Lumpur this morning.

"It is possible the decisions were made at the department's level. So nothing to do with the mayor," added Rizalman, who is also chairperson of DBKL's housing committee.
