Former PAS vice-president Husam Musa is expected to announce that he is joining Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) tonight.

When contacted, several Amanah leaders confirmed the Salor assemblyperson would be announcing his decision at an event in Cyberjaya tonight.

“Amanah,” said one Amanah leader, when asked if Husam would choose the PAS splinter party, or the newly set-up Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).

However, the leaders refused to reveal more details, saying only that Husam, a student of the late PAS spiritual advisor Nik Aziz Nik Mat, would help strengthen the new party.

Various quarters have already predicted Husam's latest move, even though it has been denied several times.

The former Kelantan executive councillor is expected to play a big role in helping Amanah operate on the national and state level.

Tonight's event will not be the first time Husam is sharing a stage with Amanah.

He had spoken at a dinner function with the party in Petaling Jaya last January.

Husam was sacked from PAS on May 6 over his criticism against the party leadership, including president Abdul Hadi Awang and Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yaacob, who is also the PAS spiritual advisor.

After four months of being without a party, Husam last night admitted that battling alone was not an option.

Husam was part of the group that lost in the PAS polls at the party's general assembly last year. The group later went on to form Amanah.
