PAS Youth chief Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz has claimed that his late father, PAS spiritual adviser Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, would have urged the people of Kelantan to reject its splinter Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).

"If Tok Guru (Nik Aziz) was here, he would have asked the people of Kelantan to let Amanah drift off to the South China Sea from the Salor bridge," said Nik Abduh as quoted by Sinar Harian.

Sinar Harian quoted Nik Abduh as saying this in response to Salor assemblyperson Husam Musa, who had said that many more would follow his footsteps to join Amanah if Nik Aziz was still alive.

The Pasir Mas MP further claimed that Husam's statement had deviated from Nik Aziz's life-long principle of remaining committed to one's struggles.

Husam had last week announced his decision to join Amanah, likening PAS to a ship that was sailing to nowhere.

He was sacked from PAS on May 6 over his criticism against the party leadership, including president Abdul Hadi Awang and Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yaacob.

Separately, Sinar Harian also quoted Ahmad as echoing Nik Abduh's belief that Nik Aziz would not support Husam's move.

"I still remember how Tok Guru cried during a solat hajat (special prayers) because he wanted to defend the state government.

"If Tok Guru did that, I don't think he would support any other party besides PAS," said Ahmad, who is also PAS deputy spiritual adviser.

In expressing his regret over Husam's action, Ahmad urged the senior politician to stop citing Nik Aziz's name, and instead respect his principles.

Husam, a former senior Kelantan state exco member, was widely seen as having a close relationship with Nik Aziz during the latter's term as menteri besar.
