FAM hopes pendrive issue resolved after MACC clarification

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) hopes that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) declaration that there was no evidence of corruption in the contents of a pen drive submitted by Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin will put an end to the issue.

“With the MACC's confirmation, we hope the issue is resolved. We wish to clarify that the FAM is always willing to cooperate with the MACC or any other body, including fans, for the sake of football in the country,” said FAM secretary-general Hamidin Mohd Amin in a statement yesterday.

Hamidin said the association would also accept the views and recommendations of the MACC, especially technical issues that were highlighted.

He said the FAM would study the investigation report from the MACC before taking any action.

MACC investigation director Azam Baki said the commission had examined the contents of the pendrive handed over by Khairy last Friday, which allegedly contained details of corruption and misconduct within the FAM, but found no evidence under the MACC Act 2009.

Khairy, who had received a pendrive from the Tengku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim on Aug 26, had submitted the pendrive which purportedly contained a 279-page report on misconduct and corruption within the FAM, to the MACC last Friday.
