A man and his five-year-old daughter died in a bomb attack in front of a school in Tak Bai in Narathiwat today.

In the 8.30am (local time) incident, four policemen and four civilians were also injured, said Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) spokesperson, Col Pramote Prom-in.

“The bomb blast occurred while police were controlling traffic in front of Ban Taba School. The victims were known as Mayeng Wohba and his young daughter, Mitra Wohba,” he said.

The security authorities, he added, were investigating the motive of the bomb attack and the people behind it.

In a separate incident at 10am today in Panare, Pattani, a security volunteer was injured by flying shrapnel from a bomb explosion.

The man was resting at a roadside shed after providing security cover for a group of teachers when the incident happened, according to Col Pramote.
