Amanah grassroots have accused PAS of using PKR to negotiate for seats with the rest of the opposition on its behalf, for the upcoming 14th general election (GE14).

Sepang Amanah vice-chief Abdul Halim Mohd Sharif said that as grassroots that worked for the party, they were baffled after finding out about the matter.

"I represent Amanah grassroots who were informed that there are ongoing negotiations between PKR and PAS in dividing up seats for the upcoming GE14," he said.

"We would not be bothered if the meetings only involved the two parties. But we have information that especially in Selangor, PAS is intentionally sending PKR to negotiate with Amanah on its behalf," he said at a press confererece in Shah Alam today.

Abdul Halim said that Amanah would not stay silent if the rumour turned out to be true as it would mean that PKR was turning its back on Pakatan Harapan.

Flanked by about 10 Amanah grassroots members, Abdul Halim warned PAS not to interfere in Harapan matters, or make use of PKR in seat negotiations.

He urged PKR to say if it wanted to conspire with PAS and leave Amanah and DAP alone in the supposedly new opposition pact.

“We want PKR to be clear and state its stand and decision on the matter," he said.

Meanwhile, he also expressed support for Selangor Amanah chief Izham Hashim who wants to field the party's candidates in 20 state assembly seats in GE14.

Abdul Halim called on the entire Harapan leadership to strengthen the new coalition and set aside all forms of personal agenda and reject exploitation by certain parties that may disrupt the relationship between the pact members.

Dispute between PAS and the DAP was the main reason behind the break-up of the former Pakatan Rakyat.

Although the DAP, Amanah and PKR are now together in the new Harapan, PKR and PAS are being seen to be close still especially in Selangor, which had raised eyebrows of other pact members if not outright questions.
