Umno-MCA war of words

The public spat between continues with Umno supreme council member Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz telling MCA to quit BN after its central committee member Ti Lian Ker suggested Umno should shed its 'jaguh kampung' politics.

Ti responded reminding Nazri he is only an "assistant" to the captain on the BN ship, and a captain wouldn't belittle its crew members.

Meanwhile, DAP's Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng suggested the opposition may work with MCA if it were to quit BN.

Umno unrest

Nazri dismissed the quitting of the two Johor Umno veterans saying they have no influence and even described one of them as a "frustrated taxi driver".

Umno deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi added the duo had always been a thorn in the party's side.

Sacked Umno leader Mukhriz Mahathir meanwhile claimed more division leaders in Kedah Umno will be quitting.

In another development, Umno Youth exco leader Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen was suspended for supposedly attempting to sabotage party president Najib Abdul Razak.

Meanwhile, retired Umno leader Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah finally admitted he quit as finance minister II over the pressure he faced from the 1MDB scandal.

Three golds at Rio Paralympics

Malaysia saw a historic achievement at the Rio Paralympics after winning three gold medals.

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the perseverance of the paralympians has inspired him to press for equal benefits for both regular and special athletes.

Naza Corporation Holdings (Naza) pledged a Kia Sportage vehicle each to the Malaysian paralympian gold medallists.
