All BN component parties must be united while their leaders should regard every component party as their own, says MIC president Dr S Subramaniam.

He said component party leaders should avoid conflicts which would be detrimental to BN.

"In BN, we have a consensus and during our meetings, a lot of issues are discussed before reaching a decision," he told reporters when commenting on the importance of unity among BN component parties.

Earlier, Subramaniam, who is also health minister, declared open a picture exhibition in conjunction with the party's 70th anniversary, at its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.

Subramaniam's comments came amid a spat between Umno supreme council member Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz and MCA central committee member Ti Lian Ker.
