Umno veterans quitting the beginning of the awakening?

YOURSAY | ‘Johor has awakened today by calling an apple what it is - an apple.’

Two Johor Umno veterans quit party

6th Generation Immigrant: "That's one small step for a (Umno) man, one giant leap for (Malaysia's) mankind" and it takes place in the state where Umno first grew its wings to soar.

Similarly, many Umno stalwarts chose not to listen to Onn Jaafar then, but eventually subscribed to Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra's words and deeds later, only to learn that these words and deeds were all actually a rehash of what Onn had in mind.

Do not make history repeat itself, Johor has awakened for and on behalf of Malaysia today by calling an apple what it is - an apple.

Pahatian: Is this the beginning of the awakening? The first pin has been struck and the rest will fall and eventually Umno is no more.

CQ Muar: Three cheers to the two thinking veteran Umno leaders. That certainly distinguished and separate themselves from those who still cling on to the deplorable party.

Both Baharom Abdul Ghani and Tosrin Jarvanti have been serving in Umno for a good number of years, and they could see the rot in Umno, which is cancerous.

There's little hope for those right-thinking and honest Umno members. Let's hope and pray more with follow suit and together we build a better and prospective Malaysia we all share and love, regardless of race, religion and creed.

Sarawakian: Wow. Tosrin got to the podium to say his piece, and the division head allowed it? Delegates applauded? Looks like the whole division, perhaps Johor Umno is gone.

KnockKnock: “Umno now is no longer the party for Malays but has become the property of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, and cannot be salvaged any more."

Words of wisdom by Baharom which ought to be pondered on by all Umno members.

Bob the Builder: Baharom has done a good move for himself and those positive-thinking Malays that Umno is no longer a party to cherish as it is allegedly a corrupted and tainted political party led by MO1 and his cronies.

The country’s economy and politics are at stake under the present regime of MO1.

Slumdog: Good and brave move, Baharom. I hope you can convince more enlightened Malays to resign from Umno as well. At least you resigned straightaway rather than threatening to resign or talk about resigning.

When other Umno chiefs threaten to resign they automatically put out their hands out for donations because the usual procedure is for Malaysian Official 1 (MO1) and his band of corrupters to put pressure on them to change their minds by offering them lots of ringgits.

JD Lovrenciear: The avalanche is starting, this is going to be a nightmare for Najib's coterie. Who is next? But if Bersatu admits any of those sworn loyalists, then Bersatu shall also be ruined. Be forewarned, Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Headhunter: I think they underestimated Mahathir. This could just be the trigger to a deluge of members abandoning Umno. Interesting days ahead. Let's see if they still talk big in days to come.

Anonymous #19098644: Umno has abandoned the Malays and not the Malays have abandoned Umno. The members are now followers of the United Machai Najib Organisation.

WTFcuk: The world must be amazed how a man can continue to lead a million members with so much revealed by so many of the stealing of billions of public funds. Only so few dare to stand up and yell, “Enough”.

Roar For Truth: Apologies for my cynical attitude but is this for real or for lack of ‘dedak’ (animal feed)? Only time will tell.

Shibboleth: Dear Roar for Truth, it’s not lack of dedak, it’s not enough dedak.

Rahman Dahlan downplays Gelang Patah Umno veteran's exit

CQ Muar: Abdul Rahman Dahlan, we urge you not to speak in riddles. You are clearly feeling nervous and worried more will follow suit, therefore your statement is to dampen the impact and prevent further 'exodus'.

What do you mean by "... others being steadfast with Umno, and were willing to wait until the programme ended." What programme? An offer to be announced later like land and cash distributions to deter them from resigning from the billions meant for the purpose?

Don't deceive yourself, Abdul Rahman. It is clearly on the wall that your Umno is doomed and awaits the curtain to make its final fall. Take it from here that others are waiting for the right moment to submit their resignations.

The ex-Terengganu MB Ahmad Said has just given Umno an ultimatum. This apparently is another potential candidate waiting for the right moment to walk out on Umno.

It looks like the "great Umno exodus" is fast becoming a reality. Soon you won't be laughing your way to the bank much longer. Evidently, it is the beginning of the awakening of many wise and hopeful Malays, who are keen to see a revival of this beautiful country.

The Analyser: Do we read headline news when someone resigns from DAP, PKR or PAS? Does it make headline news when someone resigns from the local security committee? Let the reader be the judge of what is going on here.

Demi Rakyat: I am a reader and here’s my opinion on the matter. These resignations are making headline news because the focus of their resignations is a serious matter - it's Najib who has practically ‘destroyed’ Umno.

It's no small matter that the president of Umno has billions of ringgit in his private and personal account (which nobody knows about) and they were money allegedly stolen from the rakyat of Malaysia.

Worse still, Najib said that the money came from some Saudi royalty. If Malaysians in general, and Umno members in particular, do not make a statement by rejecting Najib, then we merely demonstrate that we are not loyal and do not love our country.

So, these resignations are highly significant as they are a sign of indignation against Najib, allegedly the most useless and worst PM (and most will agree, Umno president as well) that our country has ever had. These resignations say "I love Malaysia and Umno".
