Najib Abdul Razak has expressed pride at the performance of athlete Siti Noor Iasah Mohamad Ariffin in the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro.

The prime minister said in a Twitter post today that she had done well despite having missed winning a medal in the women's 400m T20 (learning disability) event.

Siti Noor Iasah came in fourth in the race, clocking 58.55s.

Najib said Siti Noor Iasah should not be disheartened because she had given her best and shown great determination.

“Malaysia is proud of you #Rio2016 #LajuIasahLaju,” he wrote in the Twitter account @NajibRazak.

American Breanna Clark won the gold medal with a time of 57.79s. The silver medal went to Natalia Iezlovetska of Ukraine (58.48s) and the bronze medal to Barbara Niewiedzial (58.51s).
