Zaid: Dr M met Anwar, shook his hand - what more do you want?

Hopeful123: Former law minister Zaid Ibrahim, you have said it very well. There are many ways of apologising. No need to hold kenduri and prayers. Just a simple handshake, or any other gesture that can foster friendship, kinship and good leadership will do.

Let’s move together in our quest for a better nation with good governance, and a bright future for all our generations to come.

And let it happen while former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim are still with us. Let them also bask in the glory of the beautiful Malaysian sun.

Let's all get together and start the ball rolling for the next GE.

The Mask: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) leader Saari Sungib really wants Mahathir's pound of flesh and to humiliate him at the same time.

There is no magnanimity at all in him. Does Saari think he has the clout to go after Najib and put things right? If not, then let him help to save the country.

Victor Johan: We need a formidable United Mohd Najib's Opponents front to 'topple' United Mohd Najib's Organisation in the coming GE14.

Otherwise, we can discuss politics in kopi tiam and mamak shops for all we want.

Everything else now is secondary and comparatively trivial. Let's first get over this paramount hurdle. Period.

Goldee: Zaid, by your own words, can we not also forgive the current prime minister for making a lot of “mistakes”? We should not attack him, then.

Whether it's a "mistake" involving corruption, or cheating the citizens, it is a crime. If these things happen in a truly democratic country, the people would throw the government out.

First and foremost, to put our country back into the right perspective, we must free Anwar Ibrahim.

This first step must be done before we can free our beloved country from abuse of power and corruption. The jailing of Anwar is totally wrong.

The Analyser: I simply cannot believe the total inability to learn from our experience, especially those who think that Mahathir has anything positive to add to Malaysia.

You are showing a total lack of principles and total inability to do anything for yourself and your fellow men. You would embrace one of the lowest forms of humanity on the planet, simply to sooth your selfishness.

Is your desperation to win so obsessive that it has overcome your common sense? This is exactly what Malaysians did when they blindly followed Anwar.

You assumed things that were never stated, you glossed over serious shortcomings in the Anwar hoax - all because the only thing you could think of is winning, and to hell with the consequences.

The Anwar hoax has led you seriously astray. The Mahathir hoax will be worse than a national disaster.

Slumdog: The Analyser, your comments are equally applicable to Umno, which is obsessively desperate to win at every election to the extent that the party violates every democratic process to achieve its aim.

But hey, can anybody stop Umno while it is at it, when we have every investigative, law enforcement agency and government machinery working in cahoots with the government?

There is an endless list of breaches of election laws and dirty tricks. And you say the people who support Mahathir lack principles and only think of winning at any cost and to hell with the consequences?

Doesn’t this also apply to Umno?

Gotcha: True, we must salute Mahathir for his courage and determination to save the country. Upon change of government after GE14, the law must be changed to limit the powers of the PM.

Sarawakian: I totally agree with you, Zaid. Malaysians should realise that racists are misguided, not evil people. They are the product of Umno propaganda or their environment.

Those who truly care about the Malays, Mahathir and Muhyiddin Yassin included, will be cured with a good dose of 1MDB.

Notice how quiet Perkasa is nowadays. It even, occasionally, makes the kind of noises about 1MDB that we all want to hear.

Like the good apostle Paul, the repentant who has seen the light, they may be the best people to rid the nation of its demons, and move us forward.

Bob the Builder: Whatever our criticisms of Mahathir, he is still the best prime minister we have had in this country, who has done more good than harm as compared to Najib, who has brought hardship to the people and the country with all kinds of scandals involving him, from abroad and at home.
