Ministry to send delegation to Egypt to help M'sian students

Tomorrow, a delegation from the Higher Education Ministry will embark on a four-day visit to Egypt to help Malaysian students facing difficulty in financing their studies, said its minister, Idris Jusoh.

"May their efforts be blessed, and my officers return (home) safely," he said in a statement posted on his Facebook page today.

Meanwhile, the ministry in a statement said the delegation would be headed by the ministry's deputy secretary-general, Kamel Mohamed.

"The goal of the delegation is to gather facts to make out the full picture of the issues being faced.

"They will also seek to verify the information of students who need help and their universities, so that assistance can be provided as soon as possible," it said.

On Thursday, the media reported that 150 Malaysian students studying medicine, dentistry and pharmacy in Egypt faced expulsion for failure to pay tuition fees totalling RM4.5 million overall.
