YOURSAY | ‘Why is Najib still in power? Because he wields the most powerful tool in politics - money.’
Malaysian 53: Writer P Gunasegaram, this is how it happens when a nation is on a slide into the doldrums.
Look at the history of many countries in a political and economic mess such as Zimbabwe and other African and Middle Eastern countries. It is beyond these elected representatives to do anything for the nation.
Most of them are in there for their personal glory and their behaviour speaks for itself. After all the damage Dr Mahathir Mohamad allegedly did to the national institutions, he realises the truth only when it too late.
PM Najib Abdul Razak is now fully making use of all the damaged cracks in our various wings of government.
Moreover, we Malaysians are not in the mould of the people of the Philippines or Indonesia or even Myanmar. We are a lot who are not willing to rock the boat. Sad.
Doc: Why is Najib still in power? Because he wields the most powerful tool in politics - money.
In Malaysian politics, BN politicians’ loyalty can be bought and sold like a packet of nasi lemak.
None of the BN politicians have scruples and are least worried about the people who elected them, nor the fate of the country. They are more worried about their pockets.
As long as Najib has money and continues to throw money at them, the BN politicians will ensure he continues as PM.
Legit: It all goes to show the political system in this country is so terribly flawed and completely abused and made worse by successive regimes since Mahathir.
It is a democracy in name only and it has now a kleptocracy and a dictatorship put together. The race and religious factors have been used to threaten the people from using their constitutional rights to freedom, free speech, equal rights, and what not.
This is the only country where the minorities are allegedly not protected and instead victimised in every field.
In conclusion, Malaysia is a basket case where many wealthy and intelligent Malaysians have given up and are starting to make an exit to places where they can make great contributions to national development. This is the sad and sorry state of reality facing Malaysia.
Dont Just Talk: We spent all our adult life working in the private sector and what is taught and hammered into our minds is the company's vision, mission and core values, which include honesty beyond reproach.
When you are guilty of cheating the company even for RM100, your honesty is questioned and you are asked to resign or face the sack, after a disciplinary hearing.
In Malaysia, the Malaysian Official 1 (MO1) is linked to 1MDB financial scandal and the US Justice Department (DOJ) boldly stated that US$3.5 billion was stolen from the Malaysian people.
Any leader of a developed country would have resigned except for MO1 and to make matters worse, DPM Ahmad Zahid Hamidi threw in stories that he had met the rich Arab - oops rich Arabs, oops sorry, CEO of the rich Arabs - who donated US$681 million into MO1's personal account.
Instead of resigning as PM, MO1 challenged voters to stand against him in Pekan in the coming GE14 and vowing to win over 40,000 votes.
Is our MO1 so naive as being unable to differentiate between what is right and wrong?
The Analyser: It is because the opposition parties (in toto) are useless. Combined, they don’t have the intelligence nor the empathy to win anything. They are a toxically selfish and greedy collection of individuals.
Amateur: As usual, Analyser’s comments are the best medicines for those anxious to lose weight. They trigger you to throw out your food or lose your appetite.
No-Brainer: The problems that we are facing now are that we have too many traitors, many cowards, too many greedy and selfish leaders who refuse or are too scared to act. These leaders are self-serving and are only looking after themselves.
In fact, most of them, especially those from the Umno leadership, have been made Najib's accomplices and conspirators in his sins, misdeeds and alleged crimes.
So in order to make them loyal to him, he had given them 'donations' in one way or another. As it is, it looks like we, the ordinary peoples, are helpless. Can we do anything to save our beautiful and beloved nation?
SusahKes: For those who think that Najib aka MO1 has been pushed into a corner, especially with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) expose, think again; with the current redelineation exercise, there is little doubt as to what Najib's intentions are.
The benefits of staying in office and power are just too good for anyone to let go.
And why does Najib remain in power? Well, that reminds me of the quote ascribed to PT Barnum - "As long as a sucker's born every minute, we're in business."
