An MCA Central Committee member has responded to DAP sarcasm on the BN component's rejection of the proposed constituency redelineation exercise by reminding the socialist democratic party of its own impotence against the hudud aspirations of its once ally, PAS.

"What did Guan Eng do about Kelantan’s hudud enactments, other than sign an agreement with PAS?

"Contrary to the Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's accusation, MCA did in fact bring up the hudud Bill in the Cabinet - minus the DAP drama of course," sniped the Chinese party's Religious Harmony Bureau chairperson Ti Lian Ker in a statement today.

He lamented that it is unfair and unprincipled of Lim to call another leader a hypocrite because he himself did not raise the hudud issue in Parliament.

In fact, Ti argued, Lim must be reminded that it was he who embraced with Hadi Awang after he signed the “agree-to-disagree” agreement between PAS and DAP on the Islamic state and hudud issues.

He said this in response to Lim's accusation that MCA president Liow Tiong Lai was not sincere in announcing that MCa would oppose the Election Commission’s (EC) redelineation proposal.

'Perhaps Lim did not read the papers'

Ti argued that Lim perhaps did not read the newspapers this morning, which reported on the Sept 20 special briefing Liow held with state and division leaders, asking them to identify reasons or justifications to oppose the redelineation in their constituencies.

He said once compiled, this would be the grounds the party leaders would use for the objections to be made via proper channels.

The MCA Central Committee member wondered if Lim's attack was but a reflection of the pot calling the kettle black.

"Are Guan Eng’s words on the MCA president regarding EC’s proposed redelination a reflection of himself?

"Calling fellow leaders liars, hypocrites and unprincipled is uncouth and beneath a leader," Ti said in painting Lim as a hypocrite.

He said that the stones that Lim has cast at others are applicable to himself.

"Whatever he says is a reflection of himself," said Ti.

He accused the DAP of constantly lying and spinning half truths about MCA, returning fire over what he claimed are contradictions in the DAP's own stand involving race-based parties, among other things.

Lim, he said, had called "for racially-based parties to be banned," but yet he was still working with race-based Bersatu and Amanah, and not to mention PAS before this.

"The DAP has always been melodramatic, and it has managed to get away with political theatrics for way too long as it has always played victim and cried foul," Ti added.
