Parti Amanah Negara communications director Khalid Samad said there is little hope for Pakatan Harapan to retain Selangor if PAS were to engage in three-cornered fights once the Election Commission's (EC) redelineation exercise is implemented.

Khalid said there was a better chance to keep the state, even if PAS were to enter into three-cornered fights against BN and Harapan, if snap polls were to be held before the redelineation was completed.

"If the redelineation is rejected and PAS still wants three-cornered fights, there is still hope to retain Selangor under the leadership of Pakatan Harapan along with its opposition partners.

"But if the redelineation is in force and PAS were to contest in three-cornered fights, then the hope to save Selangor from BN would be near nil," he told a press conference at his office in Shah Alam today.

The opposition had accused the EC of planning the redelineation in Umno's favour and also replacing racially mixed seats with more homogeneous ones.

Khalid was responding to DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang's call for Selangor to hold snap elections before the redelineation is completed.

However, the idea was shot down by PKR.

Khalid renewed the idea, urging a Harapan presidential council meeting be convened to discuss the matter.

On a separate issue, Khalid said he was confident that PAS members would participate in the Bersih 5 rally even if the party leadership chose not to support it.

"It has become part of the flesh and blood of PAS members to fight injustices," he said.

Khalid also stressed that Amanah, a splinter party of PAS, will join the rally which calls for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's resignation over the 1MDB scandal.
