PAS Youth chief Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz has cited a slew of reasons for Malaysians to vote in the next general election, and topping the list is to punish the corrupt.

Therefore, he urged all Malaysians who are eligible to vote to register immediately.

"When you vote for the first time, you will feel the sweetness of being responsible towards the nation," he said in an article published in Harakahdaily today.

With a single vote, Nik Abduh said a person could do the following:

1) Punish the corrupt

2) Reject cruelty

3) Curb wastage and overspending

4) Make the poor happy

5) Save the people who have been wronged

6) Elevate leaders with integrity

7) Bring about the downfall of arrogant leaders

8) Foil diabolical efforts against the nation

9) Return the confidence of other nations in Malaysia

10) Providing a bright future for the younger generation

11) Strengthening support for efforts to enjoy in good, and forbid evil

12) Upholding the sovereignty of Islam

13) And many more reasons

Meanwhile, Nik Abduh also said a voter could receive divine rewards for contributing to the people and nation.

"Failing which, you will be faced with losses," he warned.

The PAS Youth chief's article comes amid widespread speculation that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak might call for a snap election as early as in the first quarter of next year.

In the last general election, the Islamist party was part of the now defunct opposition coalition Pakatan Rakyat, which comprised DAP and PKR.

After a fallout with DAP, PAS has now formed what it calls the third bloc together with Parti Ikatan Negara and Berjasa.
