As Bersih prepares to launch its nationwide convoy on Oct 1 to rally support for its Nov 19 protest against the government, Umno has revealed its plan for a roadshow to explain national policies, the economy and current affairs to the people.

The party’s website organ Umno Online today quoted Umno information chief Annuar Musa as saying that the ruling Malay party would go to the ground in all the states to meet with the rakyat and grassroots leadership.

Annuar said the series of roadshows would start on Oct 7 and go on till the end of November.

Parliamentarians, Umno supreme council members, cabinet ministers as well as the BN Backbenchers Cub would be involved in the roadshows, he added.

With the parliamentary budget sitting nearing, he said, a lot of issues must be explained to the people.

"So as to ensure that the information is conveyed directly from their MPs who were involved in parliamentary debates in the House and from the supreme council members involved in formulating the policies.

"Other than them talking and making statements in the press, we want them to go down to the grassroots nationwide and provide explanations, as well as hold dialogues to collect public feedback about any matters that arise," Annuar told Umno Online.

He said Umno's information division has organised 14 programmes across the nation for this purpose, all the way from Perlis to Sabah.
