In another bizarre twist, leader of the red shirts movement Jamal Md Yunos claimed that some of the information regarding the alleged link between Bersih and Islamic State came from PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli.

He told reporters this outside Bukit Aman after lodging a police report on the matter.

However, Rafizi, in a media statement, rubbished Jamal’s allegation and described the Sungai Besar Umno division chief as the "biggest clown in Umno".

Initially, Jamal declined to answer when asked how he could believe the terror link when the majority of Bersih's steering committee members are non-Muslim.

Pressed further on how many of the steering committee members had been allegedly influenced by IS, Jamal said it was not necessary for him to provide details.

"Let the police inform on this. And some of this information I received from (PKR secretary-general) Rafizi," he added.

Last week, Bersih denied the allegation, and revealed that it was considering legal action against Jamal and those who circulate such claims.

Meanwhile, Rafizi, who is also PKR secretary-general and Pandan MP, claimed the Umno leadership is struggling on how to "kill the clown" who is no longer comical.

"I don't know Jamal. I have never spoken to Jamal. I have never communicated with Jamal. I have never had a fistfight with Jamal and I have never eaten Jamal’s 'ikan bakar'.

"Jamal is full of ridiculousness, and entertaining him is a waste of time. I don’t understand why the media chases after him. Now Jamal thinks he is a celebrity," he added.

On a related matter, Jamal also claimed that there was evidence of Bersih's links with militants in Syria.

However, he declined to say anything further, and replied to most answers by saying that it would be up to the police to disclose the information.

Jamal had lodged the report at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters before submitting a copy of his documents to Bukit Aman.

Last week, he claimed that Bersih's end goal was to topple the government by surrounding Putrajaya as well as both Kuala Lumpur International Airports.
