Indonesian police have arrested a man who admitted to playing a Japanese adult video on a giant electronic billboard at a busy Jakarta street, a spokesperson said today.

Motorists were shocked last week when the LED screen reserved for advertising displayed scenes showing two people having sex for about five minutes before power to the display was abruptly cut.

The 24-year-old man had hacked into the computer system belonging to the advertising company that operates the billboard and streamed the video from the Internet, Jakarta police spokesperson Awi Setiyono said.

“He’s got tech skill and too much time on his hands,” Setiyono said, adding that the suspect works for an information technology company.

He could face a maximum sentence of six years in jail if found guilty of violating the country’s tough information technology laws, he said.
