Cuepacs wants better initiatives for civil servants in Budget 2017

The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) has urged the government to provide initiatives and allocations in Budget 2017 for the benefit of the people, especially low-income civil servants.

Its president Azih Muda said Cuepacs hoped Budget 2017 would help the people in the current challenging economic times.

“We (Cuepacs) want the government to ensure that low-income civil servants are helped, including no withdrawal of subsidies that have already been given, as well as a two-month bonus for civil servants,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after attending a briefing on current issues for civil servants held at the Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority (Kada) in Kota Baru today.

Azih said he hoped Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak would consider the request when tabling the budget on Oct 21.

He also said the intake of foreign workers should be curtailed and more jobs be provided for locals.
