Pahang BN reps pledge support for Adnan not to opt out of GE

All 29 Pahang BN state assemblypersons today pledged full support for the leadership of Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob to continue leading the state government.

Dong assemblyperson Shahiruddin Ab Moin who led the group, said Adnan's services were still needed, especially to lead the state BN machinery to face the 14th general election.

"In the spirit of solidarity of all Pahang state assemblypersons, we opine that Adnan should continue his leadership as he still has the consent of the Sultan of Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah to helm the state government," he said in a special press conference held at Wisma Sri Pahang in Kuantan today.

Present at the press conference were 27 out of the 29 Pahang state assemblypersons. Mohd Soffi Abd Razak (Benta), Khairuddin Mahmud (Pulau Manis) and Mustapa Long (Padang Tengku) were not present due to official matters.

However, Shahiruddin said the trio had also given assurance of their support for Adnan who had been the menteri besar for nearly 18 years.

Shahiruddin said Adnan had managed to build a close and strong relationship between the state assemblypersons, departments heads and government agencies as well as non-governmental organisations.

As such, he said all Pahang BN assemblypersons felt very comfortable to work as a team under the leadership of Adnan and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

"We will send a letter of support, signed by all the BN assemblypersons to the menteri besar soon to ask him to cancel his intention of not contesting in the next general election," he said.

Adnan, who is also Pelangai assemblyperson, when opening the Ketereh Umno division's delegates meeting on Sept 9, hinted that he might not contest in the 14th general election.
