Anwar: Harapan, Bersatu will negotiate with PAS

Sarawakian: One-to-one fights in GE14 is to ensure the fall of Umno, not to ensure the survival of PAS.

In a one-to-one fight with Umno, or a three-cornered fight with DAP, they will surely lose. The party in Pakatan Harapan that likely lose out is Amanah because they will be wiped in three-cornered fights with Umno and PAS.

The best thing for Amanah is to sacrifice themselves as a pawn in the negotiating game. Do not contest at all in GE14, their leaders can contest under Bersatu or PKR to avoid three-cornered fights with PAS. They will then live to fight another day after GE14.

Fookchin: Anwar Ibrahim and Muhyiddin Yassin to negotiate with PAS to foster a strong opposition alliance?

Yes, it's a good idea, provided PAS kick out its leader, Abdul Hadi Awang. With Hadi still heading PAS, both of you can kiss goodbye to the talks. Hadi will pull the carpet underneath such an alliance.

Also where are you going to place DAP and Amanah in the grand opposition alliance since PAS cannot see eye-to-eye with these two parties?

The final scenario may be PKR + Bersatu vs Umno + PAS + MCA + Gerakan + MIC + Ikatan vs DAP + Amanah. A three-cornered fight or more in GE14.

Bamboo: Since Hadi became PAS' head, he had been doing his level best to break up Pakatan Rakyat.

Since the break-up of Pakatan Rakyat, he had been doing the spoiler's act to enable BN to win in three-cornered fights in by the two by-elections. I don't see the point of negotiating with PAS.

It's better to plan strategy with three-cornered fights, including PAS in the picture. Negotiating with PAS is just like a dog chasing its tail, no end and no outcome.

Without ‘dedak’ (animal feed), I don't think PAS can afford to contest in all the seats.

P Dev Anand Pillai: With PAS in the picture, most would either not vote or just allow BN a walkover. When would people learn, PAS can never be trusted with federal power. The Malays will regret it if they allow a theocracy to reign.

The Analyser: The Australian TV network FTA (on Unifi) broadcasts on Wednesday night at 8pm a forum (Q and A) where politicians and community leaders face up to questions by the Australian public on pertinent local issues.

Malaysians would be well advised to watch this programme to discover how intelligent and probing the questions from the audience can be.

There are even some questions from people of Asian descent which just goes to show what Asians are capable of once they leave the repressions of Asian society. The calibre and breadth of knowledge by the politicians and the community representatives would leave Malaysians gasping for breath.

This programme and the knowledge of the politicians highlights how appallingly awful are Malaysian political parties - they have no structure, they have no direction, they have no philosophy, they have no policies, they have no standards.

They offer nothing to the people, they show the people nothing about what governance under them would be like. They are all a selfish hoax.

Muhyiddin meets Anwar to forge ties ahead of GE14

CQ Muar: It is a fundamental and necessary move by Bersatu pro-tem president Muhyiddin to renew and forge his friendship and cooperation with Anwar for a dynamic alliance to topple PM Najib Abdul Razak and his allegedly highly corrupted and deplorable government.

With all past animosities and rivalry cast aside, it's vital and a prerequisite that a fresh start must prevail and be initiated for a common purpose that this must come to pass.

We hail both leaders for their indomitable spirit as this will be seen as a new beginning and hope to save this country from the grip of a wretched, dictatorial and avaricious leader such as Najib and his equally deviated ministers and leaders.

We, the rakyat, have been low in spirit and dejected upon seeing such development happening to this once peaceful nation.

Nevertheless, with Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s and Muhyiddin's latest encounter, this step augurs well for the future of all Malaysians. Way to go, gentlemen. A toast to you all.

Anonymous Hotplate: Yes, it is important for all leaders, whether opposition or not but true leaders who have interest in the country's good governance and people's well-being to join hands to change the present government that is being ruled by allegedly corrupted leaders who allegedly practice mega financial thefts, racial and religious discrimination and brought shame to the country.

The rakyat by now should have realised that we really need change.

PAS now seems to be only for itself, no longer for all

6th Generation Immigrant: PAS had both hawks and doves. Hadi and party secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan are hawks while the late Nik Aziz Nik Mat and most of his followers were doves.

After the breakup of Pakatan Rakyat, the majority of doves within PAS abandoned the party to form Amanah. PAS still have hawks and doves present in the party, but with Hadi and Takiyuddin's regular fumbling, support from within and without are faltering.

The doves from within PAS are now totally confused - the Islamic direction or the Umno direction - it cannot be both. Soon there shall appear a new component for the party - directionless and rudderless members.

PAS is already sailing into the sunset with only the helmsmen (Hadi and Takiyuddin) pulling the ship but unable to steer nor follow a fixed heading, more so since the departures of the doves in droves.

And it shall be at this point of time that spinners from Umno shall claim credit for the death of PAS - a double whammy.

Chokstone: If you say the party came to this stage is because they persisted in upholding Islamic qualities, that would be a totally off, as you have seen all this while, the top leaders of the party didn't give the slightest reprimand on the world's greatest corruption scandal, and very much more awful when they even try their best to defend Malaysian Official 1 (MO1).

Their attitude towards the 1MDB scandal was proof of that they have betrayed the fundamentals of Islamic teaching. These ‘holier-than-thou’ leaders in reality are just a bunch of hypocrites.

Awang Top: Any establishment would come and go, over the centuries. When its ideology remains archaic and unfriendly, it would die a natural death or a painful death faster than it realises.
