DAP may have to walk alone, Najib set to be PM for life

YOURSAY | ‘The writing's on the wall. The opposition has to choose between PAS or DAP.’

Ditch DAP before talking to us, PAS tells opposition parties

Maplesyrup: So much venom from PAS leaders. Is not God a God of mercy?

Is PAS information chief Nasruddin Hassan’s ego, or the ego of his party, larger than the needs of Malaysians? Is he blind to the hardships of Malaysians under the present regime?

In short, this person and the party he represents, is not in sync with the needs of the nation. People should open their eyes and reject them.

Anticonmen: Some believe that they are chosen by God, but God has no favourites.

Some believe that they are defenders of God, but God does not need defending by tiny, puny, dust-size souls. Some believe they are representatives of God, but God does not appoint representatives.

Some believe that they are struggling for a true belief, but the real struggle is within everyone, and is between excessive, selfish materialism and balanced spiritualism.

Some believe that their book is the only true revelation, but all human knowledge is revelation emanating from the same source. God is diversity. Struggle for diversity.

Demi Rakyat: PAS under Abdul Hadi Awang, is no longer a party based on religious conviction. PAS is now like Umno, run for personal benefit and money. How PAS has fallen.

Burong Merah: DAP should seriously consider making an exit from the opposition pact and stand alone.

DAP's role should be as a check and balance to future governments. Today's opposition can be a coalition government that is worse than the present BN.

Hbasill: It was obviously written on the wall, but sadly PKR is blind. To DAP, get ready to go solo and contest every seat, even if non-Malays make up 40 percent.

If a coalition is to be formed, just invite Amanah. Let Amanah contest the Malay seats and if Bersatu wants to join, they will be followers, not leaders in this coalition. Anything less will see the demise of even DAP.

Wong Fei Hoong: PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, just forget PAS and move on. PAS is a known devil and will not work with any party if they don't support hudud.

Let's get GE14 over without PAS, even with three-cornered fights. I believe PAS will be buried.

Hardboiled: Here is the PAS perspective:

1. Islam rewards the righteous. Fight liberalism, and PAS will be rewarded.

2. Better to side with the Malays than the non-Malays.

3. PAS has two states under its control (not any more), more than any other opposition party.

4. BN doesn't bother PAS because PAS is spiritual and an adviser to all. They are above all.

5. PAS believes in an Islamic state.

That's what they want. They will do, and agree to, anything in pursuit of this goal. As long as Muslims in Malaysia entertain the Arabisation and Islamisation of a secular, democratic Malaysia, we all continue to suffer the existence of a party from the Middle Ages.

Hermit: PAS has become the proxy of Umno. The more Harapan insists that PAS come to terms, the more egoistic PAS has become.

As a matter of fact, without the support of well-informed Malays and Chinese, PAS is nowhere. Just look at yourself, what did PAS get from the recent Sarawak, Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar elections?

Ming: It is best to wait and see how PAS will fair in GE14. My family of 14 voters and all my friends and neighbours used to vote for PAS candidate Che Rosli Man of Ulu Langat.

Now we all have decided to make sure he loses, even though he is a good man. We just want PAS to lose. We will either destroy our votes, or give them to BN.

Rick Teo: The Chinese made the mistake in Temerloh when they threw their support against then Umno’s Saifuddin Abdullah. Next election, Saifuddin will thrash Nasrudin. Goodbye to this one-term MP.

Anonymous 568201438363345: The sad thing is, not one person in the opposition knows what to offer PAS.

PAS will never run out of reasons why it wants the opposition to lose Selangor and GE14. The results are a foregone conclusion.

BN is in a far better position to offer PAS what they "want" and the opposition cannot match that offer. Three-cornered fight it is. Long live BN?

Free and Fair Election: All opposition parties should ditch PAS. Let them go alone or join Umno.

Not Convinced: With PAS out of the opposition coalition, expect PM Najib Razak to win GE14, and perhaps even regain BN’s two-thirds majority.

With that, Najib can claim to have mandate from the Malaysian people and set into motion his plan to remain PM for life so as to stay out jail.

Look at Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe (who is 92-years-old). He at one time was almost defeated (in 2008), but with electoral fraud, political violence and a disunited opposition, he was able to bolster his clay feet and now set to die in office.

We used to scoff at Mugabe, but there is a lot of similarities between Zimbabwe and Malaysian than we think.
