'Those who can't manage economy, will play racial card'

Anticonmen: Management is an art and a science learnt from either professional bodies or top universities and definitely not from some religious beliefs or twisted notions about democracy.

Well spoken, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng. Only professionals will know how to manage a country or an enterprise. Too many fakes get into leadership roles due to playing the race and religion cards.

The big question is whether your opposers understand what is economic productivity, GDP and per capita income and how to read them as indicators of economic growth and management.

Economic performance and management are measured using economic indicators and by comparing them against benchmarks, local and international.

A statement of comparison between each state and with other countries, will be very useful for people and politicians to focus on.

The government of a state or country sets all policies, management and fiscal, through Parliament. The public service implements and executes the policies. The central bank manages the economy through monetary policies.

Overall management is in the hands of the government. Put in a wrong or incompetent government and you get mismanagement, and ultimately financial and economic ruin.

Clever voter: Penang Chief Minister Lim is right. He should be proud of the state’s accomplishments. But the reality is race relations will continue to be at top of agenda, because the majority of population continues to lag behind across economic and social positions.

No fault of DAP, but there has been fifty plus years of mismanagement and public abuse. DAP's biggest challenge is to show it is the alternative to MCA. Equally important is to include more diversity in its leadership. Lim has done well.

The Analyser: It's my opinion that before very long we will see Lim throw in the towel. Possibly even before his trial has concluded. He is under huge pressure and is becoming more and more desperate and irrational.

He is groping blindly, trying to find a new reason for DAP's existence, but it’s already too late. Clearly he isn’t getting any help from his peers or the DAP central committee.

This is what you get when you have a party with no philosophy, with no vision, no direction and no policies. DAP was doomed the day it tore itself away from the Pakatan Rakyat coalition.

In reality it’s the public service and the central bank manages the economy. They are the professionals and they have the long-term vision in mind. Not so in Malaysia where public servants are regarded as just that: servile.

That is because the politicians, especially the finance minister, thinks he knows it all.

Do you really think that an accountant with Lim's petty outlook would have what it takes to effectively manage the Malaysian economy?

You are dreaming, he cannot even manage his own affairs. If DAP had the remotest idea of how to manage the economy, they would be shouting it from the rooftops, because that is the only policy they ever had. They are world leaders when it comes to criticism, when it comes to answers they are petty shopkeepers.

Kringerxx1: PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and gang are not interested to develop Kelantan. He is only interested in hudud. But we who make up the rest of the Malaysia are only interested in development of Malaysia. Hadi harps on hudud and Kelantan is shamelessly poor. So Hadi will easily fall for Najib's bait.

Appum: Kelantan under PAS for the last two decades has failed its people. Of course they have to direct their failure somewhere else, in order to distract everybody by playing up religious issues.

The sad thing is that the Kelantanese there are all taken in by such con games as played by the so-called political ulamas. They show great spiritual leadership by dressing up and growing beards. But what have they done towards real development in Kelantan, still the least developed state in the whole nation?

No economic progress at all. How much FDI does it get annually? The worst is that they blame others of being infidels, when they are the worst hypocrites around.

Kelantan has the highest incest cases, prostitution is growing successfully there, social and health standards are the lowest there. Kelantan is totally clean? No corruption in the political leadership?

Just ask those who do business in Kelantan and logging in Kelantan.

Bob the builder: Umno/BN is another fine example of this class.

They can't solve economic problems they can't manage a country and are unable to answer questions, so they make use of their MPs to talk nonsense, same time making use of the red-shirt hooligans to disrupt the harmonious society of this country in order to stay in power.

Liam: I couldn't agree more, that a few moments of disunity can destroy all that has been built. No arousing of racial sentiments please.
