Amanah welcomes efforts to persuade PAS to join an opposition bloc against BN in the next general election, Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub said.

This would, at least, show that no efforts are spared to persuade the Islamist party to team up with rest of the opposition parties for GE14, Salahuddin said.

"There is still time to prove to the people that we have tried our hardest to persuade PAS. This is important so the rakyat will later understand which party is to blame for destroying all dreams to oust BN," he said in a statement.

This comes after PKR and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) said they are reaching out to PAS so that an opposition bloc can be formed to take on BN in the next general election.

This is to ensure straight fights against BN and the consolidation of votes for non-BN parties.

However, PAS said it will not negotiate with any party that has links with DAP.

PKR, DAP and Amanah are members of Pakatan Harapan, which is forging an alliance with Bersatu.

"I am certain, and I believe, that the rakyat are educated and informed enough to support parties that are against BN's cruelty.

"The rakyat will oppose any party that colludes with BN, despite any party strenously denying that it is in cahoots with BN," Salahuddin said.
