The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) denied that a viralled video footage of a group of men beating up an individual involved its officers.

Its deputy commissioner (operations) Azam Baki said the commission had lodged a police report on the video clip which had been spread via the social media.

"The MACC takes the action by certain parties who attempted to tarnish the commissions's image in the eyes of the public, seriously as though they were trying to pit the MACC against the police.

"We hope the public will not spread the video clip as it can mislead others," Azam said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur today.

The incident captured via the 39-second video is believed to have happened at a petrol station, purportedly involving the arrest of a police personnel by MACC officers in Johor.
