Bersih convoy disrupted by scuffles, media threatened

Trueglitter: The intensified provocations and mindless attacks by the much-despised red shirt hooligans on peace-loving Bersih supporters during campaigns to garner the rakyat's support and participation in the impending Bersih 5 rally on Nov 19, should deserve the rakyat's condemnations and rejection.

Clearly, the stability of our country and the efficiency of law enforcement by particularly the once highly regarded Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) is evidently at stake with the ominous likelihood of it being the toothless tiger, beholden to the powers-that-be.

To allow our national unity and the rule of law to be thus wrecked asunder by the said scum and menace to society which seemingly hold us to ransom, our national stability is undeniably threatened.

However, the well-informed and better-educated public are not as vulnerable or gullible as the Umno-inspired red shirt goons believed them to be, and without doubt, their own death knell will be sounded at forthcoming general election

6th Generation Immigrant: The red shirts, and whatever other camouflage they are using, should be taught some basic physics - "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction."

There are 12 million voters watching every action of Jamal Md Yunos and his cohorts, on behalf of Umno, which shall surely produce an equal and opposite reaction - the GE14 answer to thugs.

Intimidation has never worked when there are only a few trying to overpower the many.

FellowMalaysian: What all these hooligans showed is just sheer stupidity and ignorance in their public display of gangsterism and assault.

They have become the latest tools of a regime that keeps its power and control in government using unscrupulous, dishonest and underhanded ways.

These lost souls are defending a political party which pays no heed to rampant and massive corruption that has depleted the country billions of dollars.

Yet, these red-shirt thugs are fighting for their cause; purportedly in an effort to keep their rice bowl filled - one which is derived through cronyism and association with the ruling regime.

Ferdtan: Has red shirts leader, Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal, been called up by the police yet, as he was said to be overseas earlier?

Whatever colour they don; their aim is the same - to cause trouble to stop Bersih participants from their rounds of distributing flyers to the public.

The objective is to instigate the police to stop the activities of Bersih by default; meaning that the authorities, citing reason of security, may restrict/ban both groups from public rally/appearances.

If that happened, the red shirts’ objective (Umno too) is achieved. Bullying has become part of the red shirts/Umno culture.

Rick Teo: Indeed, the police said they would take action against the red shirts. Then why did they not take action when the media was assaulted by these hooligans?

OnlyTwoTerms: Umno has reached a new low - from defender of the race and nation to a total disgrace to the race and nation.

Instead of winning the hearts of rakyat, the only path they seem to know is using the law to enforce thuggery and intimidation.

Everyone, including the red shirts, has the right to voice their opinion and they should learn the proper way to deal with this instead of resorting to gangsterism.

Umno must learn from other countries where errant leaders are remembered as criminals and not heroes of the nation.

Hplooi: Our most potent weapon is the power of the camera and social media. Bersih and its activists should make video recording a must in every one of their events.

And a method for protection against the thugs must be implemented (especially harassment and forced deletion of video footage). One possible method would be web uploading of the recording on site.
