Blogger wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, popularly known as Papagomo, has been ordered by the Kota Baru High Court to pay damages amounting to RM300,000, in addition to RM30,000 in costs to ex-MP Sukri Mohamed, reports Sinar Harian Online.

The order was issued by the court after finding that a blog post written by Papagomo had defamed Sukri, who is also a Kelantan executive council member.

According to the report, the order was issued by Kota Baru High Court deputy registrar, Mohamad Rosli Mohamed Nawi, after a proceeding to determine the quantum of the damages was held.

Papagomo was accused of writing an article which alleged that Sukri had embezzled monies linked to the Kelantan palace and the Yayasan Sultan Kelantan.

Sukri was represented by his lawyer Hisham Fauzi, while Papagomo's legal counsel was Hanif Idris.

In June last year, the Federal Court rejected Papagomo's appeal against the High Court decision that ordered him to pay RM800,000 in damages and RM50,000 in costs to Anwar Ibrahim in relation to publishing words and images defaming the latter and linking him to a sex video.
