The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will be studying a proposal for all its employees to have an ideal body weight and to achieve a higher level of physical fitness.

JPJ director-general Nadzri Siron said the department needed to study the plan in detail as JPJ had various services, and as such, the move could not be implemented hastily.

"JPJ has employees serving the public at the counters and on the road, so we need to look at the proposal, whether it is suitable for implemention.

"I have always encouraged all our staff to watch their health and have an ideal body mass index (BMI) by engaging in sports and by practicing a healthy lifestyle," he said.

Earlier he opened a 'Love Yourself' programme as a corporate social responsibility project of the enforcement agency, held in Bukit Katil in Malacca, today with the state’s JPJ director Mohd Fadhil Hassan also present.

Nadzri also reminded JPJ to evaluate applicants on their physical fitness and health including their BMI, to build a more confident-looking team in the eyes of the public.
