Malaysia's industrial output rose 5.0 percent year-on-year in March and increased 1.1 percent from February, official figures showed today.

The Statistics Department said the year-on-year rise in March industrial production reflected growth in all sectors, with electricity up 8.0 percent, mining up 6.0 percent and manufacturing up 4.4 percent.

For the first quarter of the year, output was up 5.2 percent year-on-year.

In the manufacturing sector alone, output fell 2.7 perent in March but for the first quarter it was up 5.4 percent. Electricity production in the three months rose 6.9 percent and mining 3.3 percent.
